Tools for Self Reflection
Self-reflection is an essential component of the anti-bias toolbox. We all have biases. Some people have the power to impose their biases through systems and institutions that support them. Many people, however, do not have such power. We see prejudice and ultimately oppression through this relational lens.
Everyone in our community is responsible for themselves and for one another. We encourage you to engage with the resources on this page not only personally but also professionally and academically. The more you practice self-reflection the more it will become habitual and integral to you how you interact with the world.
Effective self-reflection is active, not passive. It is also anticipatory, not reactive. This means that the work you do while reflecting should engage with your identity, your beliefs, and your actions in a way that challenges them.
