Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the facility housing the University's enterprise computing systems. We provide monitoring and support services for these systems and the data center infrastructure that support them. In addition, staff duties include grading Scantron forms for student tests and research data collection as well as processing print requests for other campus departments.
A computerized exam grading program is available at the University of Kentucky using the OpScan8 scanner, and Scantron General Purpose Answer Sheets (GPAS) (EW-3990-1:72717069 and T4887-543).
The blue and white GPAS (EW-3990-1:72717069) answer sheet allows 5 choices per question, and answers for 240 questions. The blue and white, 5-response answer sheet is available at the University Supply Center (item number 306726).
The green and white GPAS (6703) answer sheet, allows 10 choices per question, and answers 120 questions. The green and white answer sheet must be ordered directly from Scantron (form number 6703).
The grading program sorts student scores into differently ordered lists, produces histograms, and item analysis. A handout describing the program can be found here.
Data Center Operations no longer prints the results (printed output) that accompanies the grading service for Scantron exams. We will continue to offer the grading service as usual and will provide all the files generated during the grading process electronically so that you can print them as needed. The “.out” file is available in pdf format. Both the pdf and csv files are emailed to the specified email address(es).
In addition to the emailed results, all files generated during the grading process will be available when the exam is picked up if the scanning user provides an USB drive or CD-ROM media.
If you have any questions about the changes, please call us at 859-257-2222.
You can get all request forms at the Data Center Operations area, room 61, McVey Hall. This location is where you also submit your exams/data-entry data, and receive your processed bubble sheets.

No. For each Exam that you want to have processed as a separate group, you must have a separate Request Form, separate Key(s), and, if appropriate, a Weight sheet.
Although there are several general purpose forms available for data entry use, the most used is the Scantron General Purpose Answer Sheet (306726) that was designed at the University of Kentucky, which allows 240 variables with five responses each.
But, occasionally a User may have data to be processed, and the bubble sheets that the University Supply Center provides are inappropriate. Therefore, a new bubble sheet can be designed for your special application; but, unless the project is a long-term one, the cost is usually not justifiable.
The User must contact Scantron for this Service, for which there will probably be a cost.
