Service Area: ERP Security & Support


What services do you and your teammates provide to campus?

As Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Security & Support (“BASIS”), we support all things SAP. Someone from my team is always on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in case any services are needed after hours. We have 3 primary functions: security administrations, database administration, & system administration. For security, we manage authorizations and roles. We administer over 125 SAP servers—including installing, configuring, monitoring, patching, upgrading, and resolving any issues. We also support SAP HANA and Microsoft SQL Server databases, as well as the software that interacts with SAP:  Tableau, BSI Tax Factory, Student Financial Aid (ProSAM), etc.  

What campus units do you collaborate with?

We heavily interact with ITS Enterprise Applications and the Systems Operations group.  

We work with every unit on campus as well as HealthCare. We even work with students who need our support. We usually get these referrals from Customer Services.  

What are your workplace values?

I am a service-oriented person, so quality service is very important to me. I respect people who are dedicated and committed to the University’s mission. Teamwork and reliability are huge values of mine. Collaboration and sharing knowledge are also essential in our line of work. 

What is your favorite part of working in ITS and UK?

I get a lot of enjoyment out of serving and supporting. I love how my job is constantly evolving and changing. There is always something new coming to the University. Working at UK is like having another family, especially the people I work with every day. It’s a privilege to work around such talented and dedicated people who are equally committed to serving the University and its mission.
