Wireless internet is free and available in many locations around campus. The following networks are available:

The ukyedu network offers basic wireless internet access and is accessible to anyone on campus. This network is not encrypted and does not require login information to connect. Just select the ukyedu network on your laptop, smartphone, or tablet and enjoy surfing the web.

Eduroam is a secure wireless network that is available with an active link blue account. Your link blue credentials can be used at any participating eduroam institution to access the wireless network. For a list of participating institutions visit: https://www.eduroam.us/institutions or https://www.eduroam.org/index.php?p=where.

Follow these steps to connect:

  1. Select eduroam from the available wireless networks.
  2. When prompted for your username and password, enter your link blue username followed by @uky.edu. The @uky.edu part identifies you as a participating user from the University of Kentucky and is required. Enter your link blue password.
  3. You should now be connected.

This network is available in UK Healthcare buildings. It requires no login information to connect and is not encrypted.

If using an unencrypted wireless network, a Virtualized Private Network (VPN) connection is recommended when transmitting sensitive data. For information about the UK VPN and how to connect, click here.
