LSAMP programs are sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
The first six Alliances for Minority Participation (AMP) programs were created in 1991. Louis Stokes was a congressman from Ohio for over 30 years. In 1998, congress added his name to the programs.
The Louis Stokes Midwest Center of Excellence was created in 2012 to communicate best practices, tools, and information garnered from the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) consortium to a broader audience.
In 2018, LSMCE became the Louis Stokes Midwest Regional Center of Excellence and five other LSAMP centers were created.
KY-WV LSAMP is proud of the accomplishments of its alumni and look forward to updates on their careers and successes. If you are a former KY-WV LSAMP participant, please do not hesitate to contact your campus coordinator and/or the administration office with information about what you have done since graduating or leaving the program.
