Thalethia B. Routt has more than thirteen years of legal experience in private practice and the public sector, including over seven years with the Office of Legal Counsel at the University of Kentucky.
As Associate General Counsel, Thalethia advises the University is the areas of real estate transactions, development and endowment issues, employment and labor law, contracts, student affairs, constitutional issues and bankruptcy. She works with the UKPD Division of Crisis Management and Preparedness to help ensure University compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and Kentucky’s Michael Minger Act. She also serves on several University committees, including the Equal Opportunity Panel and the Work-Life Advisory Council.
Prior to coming to the University, Thalethia was an associate with Mapother & Mapother, P.S.C., where she managed over sixty-percent of the firm’s foreclosure practice, represented lenders in residential real estate transactions and represented creditors in consumer bankruptcy matters. She began her legal career as a judicial clerk for Judge Sheila R. Isaac of the Fayette Circuit Court in Lexington, Kentucky.
She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, National Association of College and University Attorneys.
Thalethia is a Berea, Kentucky native who received her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville in 1997 and her law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2000. She is on the Board of Directors for the Lexington Fair Housing Council, a member of the Dixie Magnet Elementary School PTA and was re-elected as a parent representative on the Dixie Magnet Elementary School Site Based Decision Making Council.
