Ashlie Camp MSN, APRN, FNP-C, AGACNP-BC
I took a longer, nontraditional route to my current role as a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. I initially obtained my ADN from Midway University and, at the age of 21, I began my first bedside nursing position in the Medicine ICU at UK. I immediately enrolled in the RN to BSN program at UK and completed that in 2012. After several years at the bedside in the ICU, I made the decision to go back for an advanced degree in nursing and was accepted to the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Eastern Kentucky University. After 7 years as an ICU nurse, I graduated and began my current role in October of 2017 where I discovered my love for emergency medicine. Emergency Medicine is not only challenging, it is rewarding and I find myself looking forward to whatever the day may bring. Due to the high level of acuity in the ER at UK I needed to complete my post-masters in acute care. I completed this through UK in May of 2019 and I am now a dual certified Nurse Practitioner in both family and acute care. During my nursing career I taught clinical for the College of Nursing at UK for several semesters, but ultimately took a break while furthering my education. I am excited to be a part of the College of Nursing at the University of Kentucky once again and look forward to helping my students succeed in the nursing profession.
