Cassie Degener DNP, APRN, RD
Assistant Professor

Dr. Cassie Degener received a BS in Dietetics from the University of Kentucky in 2005, a BSN from Bellarmine University in 2009, and a DNP from the University of Kentucky in 2015. She has over 12 years of dietetic and critical care nursing experience with a focus in pulmonary critical care and cardiothoracic surgery at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky and at UK HealthCare Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Degener's certifications include the critical care registered nurse (CCRN) credential from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP) certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Currently, Dr. Degener practices within the Division of Internal Medicine/Pulmonary Critical Care at UK Chandler Hospital. Her College of Nursing teaching career began with a position as a part-time graduate school clinical instructor before making her transition to Assistant Professor for the undergraduate and graduate programs.
