Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP)
This program allows schools of nursing to establish and operate a fund to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty. NFLP funds are awarded to the schools to make loans to students enrolled full or part time in an advanced degree program (master’s, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Nursing Practice). Students awarded NFLP funds must complete three college teaching courses in addition to the requirements for their degree program. Following graduation, NFLP borrowers receive up to 85 percent loan cancellation for completing an obligation to serve as regular full-time faculty in schools of nursing. Twenty percent is forgiven after each of three years of employment as a full-time faculty member at a school of nursing and 25 percent at the completion of the fourth year. Applications are taken on a first-come, first-served basis each year, dependent on available funding. The application form and additional information can be obtained from our Graduate Student Affairs Officer at kacoll1@uky.edu.
