Admission Requirements

  • Completion of LPN and license to practice
  • Cumulative 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Three-credit-hour course in general psychology with minimum grade of "C"
  • Average of 2.75 GPA for the following natural science courses with a minimum grade of "C" in each:
    • Three-credit-hour course in human anatomy
    • Three-credit-hour course in human physiology
    • Three-credit-hour in general biology
    • Chemistry course equivalent to CHE 103 at UK

Click here for transfer equivalency information. One year of general college chemistry with a minimum grade of "C" in each course is also acceptable, in place of CHE 103. Additionally, one 3 credit hour course in microbiology is a prerequisite to pathopharmacology, taken in first semester, so that must be completed by the time of enrollment, if admitted.

If you have transcripts under a name different from the name you are using on your application, please have the sending institution change your name to match the application.  Many transcripts are lost because they do not match to any name in the system.

October 15 for spring semester 

March 1 for fall semester


Interviews are conducted via an online platform.  You will need a computer with a camera to record your responses to the video questions.  Applicants will receive an email invitation to complete the interview after the initial screening for completion of the course and GPA requirements.  Applicants not selected for an interview will also be notified that they will not be considered further.

Final Admission Decisions

Final decisions will be made following completion of the interview and the receipt of final transcripts for courses in progress at the time of application. Decision letters are sent via email to the address provided in your application. All students who are interviewed receive a letter.

International Applicants

The TOEFL, administered online, is required of all applicants for whom English is not their native language. Minimum scores accepted are:

  • Cumulative – 90
  • Speaking – 26
  • Listening – 22
  • Writing – 20
  • Reading – 22

You must submit this TOEFL score directly to the College of Nursing in addition to completing the UK application. If your degree is from a foreign institution, you must submit an evaluation by WES or one of the other admission services.
