First-time, First-year Enrollment

New and enhanced recruitment strategies are underway in the University's Enrollment Management enterprise. While our doors remain open widest for Kentucky students, enrollment management leaders are working to expand into seven new and targeted out-of-state markets to reach our enrollment goals.

Our Path Forward set as an enrollment goal the addition of 350 new first-year, full-time students and 200 transfer students.

National Decision Day--May 1, 2019--or the deadline for admitted students to confirm their university of choice is an important benchmark for achieving this ambitious goal. After May 1, more 5,450 first-year students confirmed to attend UK in the fall 2019 semester. Ultimately, the class size and composition will fluctuate slightly over the next four months; however, the academic quality of the class is similar to last year’s record levels. The class reflects a similar resident/non-resident split to previous years, and is more diverse than last year’s first-year class. With this record class, UK Housing officials expect full occupancy in the residence halls for the fall semester.

Maintaining this achievement through the summer and as we begin the fall 2019 semester will be essential in reaching the Phase I target for enrollment management.
