The Patterson School is pleased to announce that Dr. Juste Codjo has joined our faculty. Dr. Juste Codjo is a Defense Strategist and a Scholar of International Security. He holds a Ph.D. in Security Studies with a concentration in International Relations from Kansas State University. He also has an M.A in International Relations from Webster University and a B.A. in Legal and Political Studies from the Université d’Abomey-Calavi (Benin). He previously taught Security Studies and Political Science at Kansas State University for the past two years.
Prior to joining academia, Dr. Codjo served as an army officer in the Benin Armed Forces for nearly 20 years. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, from which he earned a certificate in Strategic Studies in 2012. While on active duty, he taught military subjects at the Benin Officer Academy for three years, and also participated in a U.N. peacekeeping operation that restored peace in Liberia in 2004.
Dr. Codjo’s teaching and research interests revolve around international relations and security, including U.S. national security, political violence, major powers’ security cooperation policy, and political institutions and security in the developing world. He will be teaching National Security Policy and Transnational Security in the Autumn 2018 semester, and expects to teach Defense Statecraft and Peacemaking in the Spring 2019 semester.
