On October 12-13, the Patterson School hosted a contingent of US Army War College personnel for our annual Fall Negotiation Simulation. This year’s simulation included teams representing seven countries, all parties to the ongoing dispute in the South China Sea. Students represented their countries in traditional diplomatic roles in a multilateral negotiation that spanned two days. The South China Sea scenario, written by Professor Ritchie Dion of the Army War College, helps student develop diplomatic and team-building skills while also familiarizing them with the details of the regional conflict. The Patterson School has conducted the Negotiation Simulation in some form, almost always in conjunction with the Army War College, since 2010.
