ASHCA Summit 2022 Abstract Submissions Deadline

Date:
Wednesday, January 12, 2022 (All day)

Goals for the Abstracts

  • Provide a forum for conversation and collaboration among researchers, educators, risk managers, and agriculture industry leaders.
  • Share information on evidence-based best safety practices for various agricultural work settings and exposures, with application for wide-scale industry adoption.
  • Challenge attendees to identify agricultural safety and health topics warranting further research (or program evaluation) based upon needs identified by farm organizations, producers, employers, farmworkers, and industry representatives.

Inclusion Criteria

Abstract submission is open to the public, with the understanding that the Summit audience includes agribusiness representatives, farm organization leaders, state and national public officials, news media, and agricultural safety and health professionals. Priority will be given to abstracts that focus on practices and interventions for production agriculture to improve the health and safety of those engaged in agricultural work, including owner/operators, farm families, hired workers, on-farm service providers, and others who live on or visit farms. Specific areas of interest include:

  • COVID-19 related safety adaptations
  • Evidence-based best agricultural safety and health practices
  • Interventions for vulnerable populations working in agriculture
  • Model programs to protect working and non-working children in agriculture
  • Sustaining an adequate, safe workforce for the growing agriculture industry
  • Emerging issues warranting worker safety and health attention (e.g., biofuels, on-farm processing, utility vehicles, zoonotic disease)
  • Fostering current and future agricultural safety and health professionals

Review Criteria

Abstracts will be evaluated by a committee per the criteria: a) likelihood of generating dialogue and collaboration among researchers, program implementers, and industry partners; and b) relevance to current and emerging priorities in production agriculture.

Abstract submissions are due Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Abstract Format

Abstracts will have a limit of 350 words. Each abstract will include title, author(s) and affiliation(s), and keywords. Additional sections should include purpose, methods (if applicable), findings, and translation to practical application by the agricultural industry.
