Pilot mobile app to generate automated access routes from timber harvesting sites to emergency locations

2019
Completed Pilot Project

The goal of this pilot study is to develop a mobile-based tool to automatically generate optimized access routes that minimize travel time from EPLs to logging sites. In addition, the tool will create and maintain a digital database for rendering active logging sites and associated access routes that can be accessible by emergency personnel at any time.

Products:

Pilot mobile emergency location app with driving directions and latitude and longitude coordinates for air medevac for forestry and logging professionals providing the critical fiber wood supply through the #1 most dangerous career of timber harvesting.

Presentation:

Provided an update and discussed the pilot with stakeholders at the Kentucky Forest Industries Association annual meeting in Louisville, KY.
