If you’ve received an Apple iPad, keyboard, and pencil through the Smart Campus Initiative at the University of Kentucky but are now transferring or withdrawing from the university, you will need to either return or purchase the iPad and accessories at the calculated depreciated value. Please direct further questions to smartcampus@uky.edu.

 

 

Returns

If you would like to return the iPad and accessories, you will not be charged for your device. Below is the list of all the items that must be returned.

  • iPad
  • Keyboard
  • Apple Pencil
  • Power Block
  • Lightning Cord

Before returning your device, please remove any personal information. Once you have updated all of the settings, you can return your device. We will inventory your items and remove your user information from the device. You will receive an email to your UK email address once we have processed your return.

If you live close to campus and would like to return in person please bring the iPad, all accessories, and the iPad Return Form to:

The Cornerstone Building, Front desk | Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. -  9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. 

 

Mailing your technology - iPad Return Form Download

 If you cannot drop off your device in person, you can mail it to us. You may use any shipping carrier and packaging to return your iPad and accessories. The Smart Campus Initiative is not responsible for shipping costs.

NOTE: Please email smartcampus@uky.edu with the tracking number of your package and which carrier you used. Be sure to include the iPad Return Form when returning your device. 

 

Purchase at Depreciated Value

If you withdraw or transfer from the University of Kentucky you have the option to purchase the iPad and all related accessories at its depreciated value to keep ownership.

After purchasing your device, we will remove the mobile device management system and you can continue to use your iPad as you would with any other of your personal devices.

It can take up to two weeks after payment for management to be removed from your device. Management cannot be removed from your device until we receive the check and process your payment. A customer support ticket will be opened on your behalf so you will be notified throughout the entire process.  

*Please note that if you attempt to reset your device before it is removed from management, you may get locked out of your device until we complete the removal process.

 

How do I Pay for my device? - iPad Purchase Form Download

In order to pay for your iPad, you will need to mail a check with the depreciated value and the iPad Purchase Form to the address below:

NOTE: Make the check payable to the University of Kentucky. It is very important to include the iPad Purchase Form in order for us to process your iPad, if you provide just a check it will take longer to identify who the check belongs to. 

 

What is the depreciated value of my device?

The month you pick up your device, technology begins depreciating in value. The depreciated value is calculated based on when you withdraw from the university. Once the value is calculated it will not decrease unless it is paid, or the device is returned.
