DART Machine

There is a DART machine located in the Medical Center Library near the Circulation Desk for adding cash to the Plus Account, checking balances, and purchasing temporary cards that can be used at any of the participating locations. (https://www.uky.edu/plusaccount/participating-locations).

Plus Account cards will activate copiers and printers, and are also widely used on campus and off campus for food, bookstores, prescriptions, and much more. UK campus printing may only be accessed with a Plus Account.

Plus Account cards will activate Copiers and Printers. They can even be used to buy items at stores around the city.

Below are some simple instructions for operating the DART machines along with pictures:

DART machine appearance.

The Beginning screen on the DART, you must select 'Start' to begin.

The DART Machine has three options initially (above): "Balance Inquiry", "Deposit Cash to Account", and "Purchase Card". Everything is self-explanatory and easy to follow. A couple of things to remember:

  • If you have a student ID, you don't need to buy a card.
  • DART machines are CASH ONLY.
  • DART machines DO NOT give back change.
  • DART machines accept bills up to $20.00.
  • A temporary card costs $1.
  • The temporary card starts with no money on the account.
  • Please allow up to 15 minutes for the funds to post to your card.
  • You can add also funds to a DART card at the Plus Account Office (www.uky.edu/PlusAccount) using cash, check or credit card.

If you already have a card and wish to inquire about the balance or to add money, you must select one of the option above and then swipe your card into the reader. If your card is not read by chance try swiping with the magnetic strip facing an alternate way. (WildCard/Student IDs have the magnetic strips in a different location than DART cards)
To add money, you will insert the bills as shown into the bill acceptor, as shown above.

If you wish to purchase a card, you must select the 'Purchase Card' option and insert only a $1 bill. Any other bill will result in a loss of money. After you have purchased a card, it will be dispensed from the card dispenser above.

After transaction is completed, a receipt for your records will be dispensed from the receipt dispenser.
