Campus Partners

K Week is one of the largest collaborative programs at the University of Kentucky, and it takes a lot of dedicated faculty, staff, and community partners to make new student transitions to campus as smooth as possible. We appreciate your help! Whether this is your first K Week or your 10th, we have a way for you to get involved and get to know our new students. Below is a list of possible involvement opportunities for our campus partners.

K Week Call for Events

K Week could not happen without involvement and support from many campus partners. There are more than 100 events during K Week that help welcome the new students to campus. If you are interested in hosting your own event, please contact the K Week office. The deadline to submit your event is Monday, June 1, 2020.

K Week Faculty/Staff Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed to give students and families a warm welcome by helping unload their belongings and directing them through the move-in experience. More information about volunteering with UK Housing for move-in is available here.

K Week Parents and Families Reception

Day, time, location TBD

The UK Parent and Family Association is hosting its annual informal reception for families while students participate in their first K Team meeting. Parents and families will meet and mingle with UK administrators, faculty, staff, and fellow UK families. Chair massages and refreshments will be provided. Families can participate in Letters from Home. President Eli Capilouto will offer brief remarks to parents and families during the reception.

We would love for faculty and staff from all areas of campus to be represented at the K Week Parents and Families Reception. Volunteers will check in 15 minutes early at the volunteer table in the Gatton Student Center (near the social staircase) and be given any last-minute instructions. This is a great opportunity to speak one-on-one with families and welcome them to UK. If you have any questions about the Parents and Families Reception, or any K Week programming, email or call 859-257-6597 during regular business hours.

New Student Induction Ceremony

Thursday, August 20, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., Memorial Coliseum

Join us as we welcome new students and families into the Wildcat family at UK’s annual New Student Induction Ceremony. Faculty and staff volunteers are needed to help take attendance and hand out water at the New Student Induction Ceremony. Volunteers will be loaned an event staff t-shirt to wear, and dress is casual as Memorial Coliseum will be warm. If you have any questions about the New Student Induction Ceremony, or any K Week programming, email or call 859-257-6597 during regular business hours.
