Parents and Families
K Week is August 19 - 22, 2021!
K Week, UK’s fall welcome week, is four days of events and activities designed to help ease the social and academic transition to the University of Kentucky for new students.
Check out this recorded Cat Chat Live for more information about how you can best support your student during K Week:
- Please visit www.uky.edu/housing for more information about move-in as it becomes available.
Wildcat Welcome Ceremony
- During K Week, new students will attend the Wildcat Welcome Ceremony where they will be officially inducted into the University. Big Blue U, the UK Athletics pep rally, will follow. Families are encouraged to view the live stream on YouTube from home. It will be held on Friday, August 20, at 7 p.m. ET.
- The UK Parent and Family Association offers Letters from Home as a way for families to connect with students during times of transition to college. Visit www.uky.edu/studentservices/PFA/letters-home to learn more.
- We know that you may have taken photos of your students every year on their first day of school, and we don't want to break that tradition now! On the first day of classes each fall semester, the Parent and Family Association takes photos of students to commemorate their first day. Learn more at www.uky.edu/studentservices/PFA/first-day-school-photos.
