Jimmie Jones, Jr. joined Student Transitions and Family Programs in January 2018 as the Senior Program Specialist working primarily with First-Generation Students, First-Year Scholars, and the Robinson Scholars Program. He also serves as the director of the First-Generation Living Learning Community (LLC) currently housed in Baldwin Hall. Jimmie works to support students academically through formal advising and co-curricular programming efforts targeted at assisting with student’s transitions to and throughout their time at the university.
In addition to his work with first-generation students, Jimmie serves on the UK College of Health Sciences Diversity and Inclusivity Committee, the Graduate and Professional School Fair Committee, and the Physicians Assistant Admissions Committee; he volunteers as a student organization competition judge and as a staff advisor to the Wildcat Hoops student organization. This fall he will also be a UK 101 instructor.
Jimmie is a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), and the Kentucky Association of Blacks in Higher Education (KABHE).
Jimmie is a native of Louisville, KY. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to live music, traveling, participating in research efforts, and spending time with his family and friends.
