Joel serves as UK’s Department of Veterans Affairs VetSuccess on Campus Counselor/Coordinator (VSOC) and is a former US Army veteran himself.
Joel serves both UK’s and BCTC’s campuses. Joel is positioned at UK within the Veterans Resource Center to assist with collaborative services between the University/College Schools VA Coordinator/Certifying Officials and VA to provide on-campus support with offering a variety of services to veteran students and eligible family member and survivor beneficiaries, including participants under the Federal Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment program, known as Chapter 31 for Disabled Veterans.
Joel offers services with educational/vocational guidance and counseling and educational and vocational assessment as well as assists with Veterans Compensation and Pension Benefits and VA Healthcare services to all veteran students and entitled dependents and survivors. His goal is to raise their retention and degree completion rates and obtain suitable employment for all beneficiaries within their profession of study.
Joel calls Jeffersonville, Indiana his home but is a native of San Antonio, TX. In his spare time, he spends time with his family. He enjoys playing golf and has a passion for the art of making traditional smoked BBQ.
