Student Commuter Parking
Permit Year: 2017-2018
Transportation Services offers a limited number of commuter student parking permits within reasonable proximity to desirable campus destinations. Commuter permits provide off-campus student commuters with the highest level of convenience and predictability at a higher price point than periphery parking. Transportation Services manages the number of permits issued for designated commuter parking areas to ensure that permit holders will generally be able to find parking within their assigned lot, garage or area.
Commuter parking is ideal for students who desire more convenient access to campus than periphery parking can offer.
Commuter permits are restricted to registered students with 60 or more credit hours who live outside a 1-mile radius of campus.
Students renewing an existing commuter permit have priority of purchase during a designated pre-sale window (see application process and calendar below).
2017-2018 Monthly Price: $37
2017-2018 Annual Price (based on 8 months): $296
Student commuter parking areas are designated within the intermediate pricing tier as a result of the relative proximity and desirability of these spaces. Students seeking less expensive student commuter parking may also consider the periphery parking option.
Student commuter permits are generally only available to purchase for the entire academic year and are valid from August 7, 2017 through May 4, 2018.
Students who no longer need or desire commuter parking during any portion of the year, may choose to return their permit and will be given a pro rata refund of any unused portion when the permit is returned to Transportation Services.
Student commuter parking is available in the following locations for 2017-2018:
- C5: S. Limestone Garage (PS #5)
- C9: Scott Street area (Taylor Dickey, Scott Street and Reynolds Lots)
- C16: Shively Center and Track Lots (assigned by Athletics due to restricted nature of lots)
Parking Privileges and Control Hours
In addition to authorizing parking in the designated commuter parking areas, a commuter permit also authorizes the permit holder to park in student periphery parking areas (K). Commuter permits are also authorized for use in most employee intermediate parking areas after 3:30pm and in most employee core areas after 5pm.
Student commuter parking areas are generally controlled for permits under the following control schedule:
Student commuter permit control hours:
- Mon-Fri: 5am-3:30pm
Any valid permit control hours:
- Mon-Thu: 3:30pm-7:30pm
No permit required (except in the S. Limestone Garage)
- Mon-Thu: 7:30pm-5am
- Friday: After 3:30pm
- Sat-Sun: All day
Note: Signage at the entry to parking areas and any additional control signage, curb markings and other parking control devices within these areas take precedence over maps and general campus information.
