Service During Emergencies or Severe Weather
UK Transportation Services makes every effort to maintain scheduled campus bus service. This includes during campus closures, delays, and early dismissals. However, there are instances where bus service must be interrupted due to imminent severe weather, road conditions, or at the direction of emergency officials. Any updates to service will be communicated in real-time on the TransLoc Rider app and at www.twitter.com/UKParking.
Please see below for additional details concerning bus service during severe weather or other emergencies, early dismissal, and/or campus closures.
Emergencies
Campus bus service may be suspended due to imminent severe weather, road conditions, other campus emergencies, or at the direction of emergency officials.
As one example, bus service will be temporarily suspended during tornado warnings, and will resume once the warning has been lifted. In the interest of safety for UK bus drivers and passengers, UK buses in service will be directed to the nearest facility and individuals will be instructed to seek shelter indoors until the emergency condition has passed.
UK staff, students, and faculty should monitor UK Alert, which is the University’s emergency notification system. This system is activated in times of university closings, delays, early dismissals due to weather, tornado warnings, and other major emergencies on campus that require immediate action.
Campus Closure, Delay & Early Dismissal
Blue and White Routes (Lextran Route 14) and Green Route will operate as usual, as circumstances allow. Orange Route, On-Demand service and Kentucky Wildcab will run on normal schedule, if circumstances allow.
