Explore Campus with the Bus Stop Hop

Ever wondered how the buses work? Get to know the ins and out of the campus bus routes with the Bus Stop Hop on Wednesday, Nov. 8. The interactive tour will take place on the Blue Route (Lextran Route 14), departing from the W.T. Young Library stop at 5:30 p.m., and ending around 6:30 p.m. at the same stop.

Participants will learn all about the campus and local transit systems, including accessibility, trip planning and how to load a bike on a bus. Representatives from UK Transportation Services and Lextran will be on hand at the Bus Stop Hop to answer questions about BluPass, specific routes and stops and bus tracking. Bus Stop Hop riders will have the chance to win prizes by answering trivia questions.

Lextran – which is free to all UK students, faculty and staff under the BluPass program – travels throughout 22 different city routes extending throughout and beyond the UK campus into the Lexington community. BluPass encompasses all Lextran routes, both on and off campus, allowing UK students, faculty and staff to travel to, from, and around campus while also accessing the city.

Making Campus Transportation Better: We Need Your Feedback

Over the past few years, Transportation Services has greatly expanded mobility options for the campus community, with an emphasis on a broad array of choices for those traveling to, from, and around campus.

These efforts – geared toward meeting the needs of transit riders, bicyclists, pedestrians, and those who choose to share rides – include the BluPass partnership, the bike voucher program, Big Blue Cycles, and the “cash out” program for employees who choose to forgo bringing a motor vehicle to campus for one year.

The University – through Transportation Services – is now exploring the development of a program to further encourage alternative modes of getting to, from, and around campus on a daily basis. We are envisioning a “Commute Club,” which would reward dedicated alternative transportation users.

Please take a short survey about your transportation habits to aid in developing the Commute Club framework. The survey will remain open until Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. Survey participants will have the chance to win one of several $20 gift cards valid at the UK Bookstore.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
