KHSAA Football Championship Games Start Friday

By lasu224 · November 30, 2022

The Kentucky high school state football championship games will take place starting Friday, December 2, and Saturday, December 3, at Kroger Field.

The games are not expected to have a significant impact on campus parking, as most students and employees will be on-site before football fans begin to arrive. However, campus bus service schedules will likely be impacted by the increase in traffic on Friday and Saturday.

The games will start at noon, 4 p.m., and 8 p.m. both days.

The following parking lots and structures will be available to fans beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday:

  • Kroger Field Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Commonwealth Drive, and Orange lots

University Drive Garage (PS #1) will be available for football fan parking starting at 3 p.m. on Friday throughout the weekend.

Sports Center Drive Garage (PS #7) will be available for football parking starting Friday throughout the weekend. Hourly parking rates will apply.

Vehicle relocation away from these areas is not necessary for either employees or students. However, those who have parking permits for the Kroger Field Green Lot (E10, R10 & C10 permit holders) may use Sports Center Garage (PS #7) as a relocation option on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Dec. 2-3) if they would like to do so. Vehicles must be moved back to the Green Lot by 5 a.m. on Monday, December 5.

UK Employees:
UK employees who park near Kroger Field should experience limited, if any, impact to their typical parking routines on Friday morning. However, beginning late morning, employees may notice an increase in parking demand in the Kroger Field lots.

The Orange Route (UK HealthCare) may also experience service delays on Friday due to traffic increases in that area.

Students should experience minimal impact because of the football games, although – like employees -- they will notice an increase in traffic in the Kroger Field area on Friday and Saturday and in the Sports Center Garage (PS #7).

Bus service on the campus Blue and White Routes and the Green Route will likely be impacted on Friday, with the Yellow Route to be impacted on Saturday.
