KY Wildcab Service Unavailable Thursday Due to Winter Weather

Kentucky Wildcab, a free, late night on-demand transportation option for UK students, will not be in service this Thursday evening. The University cancelled in-person classes today due to inclement winter weather, which resulted in ice-covered roads and pedestrian walkways.

Kentucky Wildcab is designed to provide a ride home to UK students and their guests while promoting responsible late-night transportation decisions. The service operates primarily using student drivers.

The decision to cancel tonight's Wildcab service was made in conjunction with UK's Student Government Association (SGA) and the University's Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

"Student safety is our primary consideration," said Lance Broeking, Director of UK Transportation Services. "After consulting with the SGA and EOC, we felt it was safest to stay off the roads this evening and to encourage students to do the same."

Kentucky Wildcab service is expected to resume Friday evening, weather permitting. This service is funded, in part, by UK's SGA and the Student Transportation Council and is operated by Transportation Services. It typically runs 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday when classes are in session.
