Student Periphery Permits

Student periphery permits provide a cost-effective parking option for students who wish to park on the campus periphery, and are available to both commuter and on-campus student residents. Periphery lots are served by direct shuttle service to the entire campus via the Blue, White, and Yellow bus routes. These permits are ideal for on-campus residents seeking an affordable alternative to residential parking within a reasonable distance of housing areas or for commuter students who don't qualify for, or are otherwise unable to obtain, a commuter parking permit.

Periphery permit holders are required to relocate their vehicles for home football games. See the gameday relocation map for details.

Eligibility

All full and part-time UK students are eligible to purchase Periphery (K) permits.

Pricing

Student periphery permits are available by the semester or by the academic year.
The 2022-2023 annual price (based on the eight-month academic year) is $272; the fall or spring semester only price is $136.

Students who no longer need or desire periphery parking during any portion of the year may choose to return their permit for a pro-rated refund.

Parking Locations

Student periphery parking is available in the Kroger Field Red and Blue Lots, as well as the Commonwealth Drive Lot and College Way West Lot.

Parking Privileges and Enforcement Hours

In addition to authorizing parking in all designated student periphery parking areas (K), the periphery permit also authorizes the permit holder to park in most employee intermediate parking areas after 3:30 p.m. and in most employee core areas after 5 p.m. However, signage at the entry to parking areas and any additional control signage, curb markings and other parking control devices within these areas take precedence over maps and general campus information.

Student periphery parking areas are enforced for permits under the following schedule:
Student periphery permit required:  Monday through Friday: 5 am to 3:30 pm
Any valid UK permit:  Monday through Thursday: 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm
No permit required:  Friday after 3:30 pm and all day on Saturday and Sunday

Application Process and Calendar

Student periphery permits went on sale for the spring 2022 semester starting on Thursday, July 7. Permits are no longer available for purchase online, but can be purchased on-site at our customer service center and over the phone.

Please note that periphery permits do not sell out; they remain available throughout the year, not just at the start of the fall and spring semesters.
