Walk Overview
The University of Kentucky's campus is pedestrian-friendly, and becoming more so each year. Efforts are underway to further enhance campus walkability, with a particular focus on safety and education.
In 2017, UK formed a Pedestrian Advisory Committee. This committee was designed to search for ways to improve facilities, address safety concerns and provide ongoing education. Many projects have since been completed, including enhanced pedestrian lighting, the installation of raised crosswalks and bump-outs and a pedestrian scramble at the intersection of Prall and South Limestone.
UK also offers incentives for students, staff and faculty to explore the campus on foot. Commute Club is an example, featuring a wide variety of benefits in return for a car-free commitment. So take some time to explore UK on foot! There are many resources available to guide you and to reward you along the way.
