2022-23 Academic Year

The University Senate, its academic councils (Graduate Council, Health Care Colleges Council, and Undergraduate Council), its committees, the Senate Council, office staff, and many other members of the University community are committed to a timely and productive review of curricular proposals. To ensure sufficient days for timely review of proposals, the Senate Council office is providing the list of deadlines below. These deadlines have been established to ensure reasonable time for review, not to guarantee an effective date. Proposers are responsible for ensuring that proposals are submitted in a timely manner.

Incomplete proposals, those with unresponsive contact persons, etc. may move through the process more slowly and may not be approved in time for a Fall 2023 effective date. The review by Senate’s academic councils (GC, HCCC, and UC) can vary from two weeks to a few months, depending on a proposal’s quality and/or its complexity. Please plan accordingly!

If seeking a Fall 2023 effective date, proposals must be reviewed by any appropriate academic council(s) (GC, HCCC, UC) and received by the SC office by:

• December 1, 2022 for new degree program proposals
• March 1, 2023 for other proposals requiring committee review (new certificates, transfers of a degree, new department, department/college name change, change to credit hours required for graduation, significant program changes, etc.)
• April 12, 2023 for courses, all other program changes, and minors
