keepUKsafe_0.jpgConsent - an affirmative, ongoing, mutually understood yes to sex.

The Consent Culture campaign is an initiative to start a campus-wide dialogue about healthy sex, and consent. It aims to bring the UK student community together to promote consensual sex, clear misconceptions, and raise awareness of the sexual assault advocacy resources available to students.

Sign the Pledge Board and take your #pledgeboardselfie to show your support for consensual sex and promote safety for UK!

Sponsored by the VIP Center, Dean of Students and SPARC.

Here at UK, we have a definition of affirmative consent.

Administrative Regulation 6:2 - Affirmative Consent means an unambiguous and voluntary expression of willingness, permission, or agreement to engage in specific sexual activity throughout a sexual encounter. It is the responsibility of each person involved in the sexual activity to ensure that he or she has the affirmative consent of the other to engage in the sexual activity. Consent cannot be inferred from the absence of a "no"; a clear "yes," verbal or otherwise, is necessary. Consent cannot be granted by an individual who: 1. Is incapacitated by any drug or intoxicant; 2. Has been compelled by force or threat of force; 3. Is unaware that the act is being committed; 4. Is impaired because of a mental or physical condition; 5. Is coerced by supervisory or disciplinary authority; or 6. Is less than the statutory age of consent.

#ConsentCulture Campaign

The #ConsentCulture campaign will begin August 24th and 25th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside of Whitehall, where you can come sign the pledge board and take your #pledgeboardselfie to show your support for consensual sex and promote safety for UK.

Use the hashtag #consentculture when discussing the campaign and topics related to consent. Encourage friends to sign the pledge board with you. If you are part of Greek life, encourage your organization to sign the board as a group and receive a pledge poster to hang at your house. Keep an eye on our social media for more chances to come out and sign the Consent Culture board throughout the semester!
