Gold Bead Red Wiggler

PATTERN:

HOOK: Mustad 3906B size 10 or equivalent
THREAD: Red
BODY: Red mini-vernille
COLLAR: Gold bead 1/8"

Tying Instructions:

1. Cut a 3.5cm piece of vernille and thread it through the bead.
2. Lightly melt both ends of vernille with a flame.
3. Pinch hook barb.
4. Thread bead/vernille onto hook and push all the way around to the eye.
5. Start thread at hook bend with a reverse jam knot and wind 2/3 up the shank.
6. Push the bead down to the thread, leave 1cm of vernille sticking out of the front.
7. With vernille on top on the hook shank, make a turn with the thread over the top.
8. Lift up the rear piece of vernille and wind the thread back 5 turns.
9. Pull the vernille down and make one turn over the top of the vernille.
10. Lift up the rear piece of vernille and wind the thread back 5 turns.
11. Pull the vernille down and make one turn over the top of the vernille.
12. Finish the rear of the fly with 2 half-hitches under the vernille.
13. Sparingly, put a drop of superglue on the bottom of the windings. 14. Cut thread flush.
15. Go to the eye of the hook, lift up the vernille in front of the bead and start thread again with a jam knot. Wind under vernille back to the bead.
16. Pull the vernille down and make one turn over the top of the vernille.
17. Lift up the rest of the front of the vernille and wind the thread forward 4 turns.
18. Pull the vernille down and make one final turn over the top of the vernille.
19. Finish the fly with 2 half-hitches under the vernille and, sparingly, put a drop of superglue on the windings from the bottom.
20. Cut thread flush.
