What is Supply Chain Management?
Supply
Chain Management encompasses the planning and management of all activities
involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and all logistics management
activities. Importantly, it also includes coordination and collaboration with
channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third-party service
providers, and customers. In essence, Supply Chain Management integrates supply
and demand management within and across companies.
What you will learn in DIS 390:
o The fundamentals of Supply Chain
Management;
o Why companies like
o How to work cross-functionally to
achieve business objectives;
o The roles of continuous improvement
initiatives like Lean and Six Sigma;
o Current business issues such as
outsourcing and offshoring; and
o The role of key technologies, like
the Internet and RFID.
