Report on Exam 2 Curve The average score on Exam 2 was 47%, significantly lower than on the first exam. The different no doubt results from a combination of sources: poor class attendance during the relevant time period, mid-semester distractions taking students away from their studies, my experimentation with more open-ended questions, and differences in grading style from one test to the next. But then, the reason we curve is so that we don't have to argue over those fluctuations and decide how much to blame us and how much to blame you. Here's the result of applying my curving method to these exam scores. Remember that the letters are not in any sense binding, because right now the only official information you can have is where you rank in the class. These are the letter-grade estimates: A 62 or higher B 40 thru just short of 62 C 26 thru just short of 40 D 19 thru just short of 26 E below a 19 Obviously you can always ask for more information about your standing in the course. steve
