People, like Ruth, who live in African cultures often believe that superstition can heal, treat, and cure many ails and sicknesses.  Unlike these cultures, many westernized societies deny the idea that superstition can work, if believed in.  Although this is true, some people still believe in performing superstitious traditions.  Superstition is the belief that something not related to a course of events will shape the outcome.  These superstitious traditions do have good physical, psychological, and social effects on the people who believe in them.
