“Where Are You Now?”  Research Worksheet

 

1.        What place are you investigating? 

 

2.        What keywords will you use to search?  In what combinations?  Remember to try *many* different search strategies.  If you want to find information about a certain issue and your place, combine those terms with “and.”  For example, “Keeneland” and “animal rights” or “Cheapside” and “history.”  List as many search strategies as you can below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.        Where will you search?  Here are some possibilities: Google search, blogs, UK website, Lexington history museum, UK archives sites, Local History Index.  On Wednesday we’ll talk about finding newspaper and scholarly articles (that you DON’T have to pay for!)  List where you’ll search below. 

 

 

4.        What did you find?  List some sites that you’ve found particularly useful.  Give the site name + a brief description of what kind of helpful info it contains.  Be sure to keep a running log of sites for yourself!!
