Email re: Extra Credit Opp, 9/17
Throughout
the semester, as important cultural / intellectual events take place on campus,
I offer you the opportunity to earn extra credit by taking part and writing up
a 2-page response. I just learned of an
event that should definitely be worth your while:
***
Constitution
Day, the national commemoration of the signing of the United States
Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, is fast approaching. UK will observe the day by
hosting several activities on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Main Building. In the
event of rain, the location will be changed to the patio at the UK Student
Center. UK Constitution Day festivities are free and open to the public.
Kick
off for UK Constitution Day will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 17 with free apple pie
and lemonade.
The theme of this year's event is "Your
Big Chance: Young Voters & the Presidential Election," and will
feature a public forum with local and state dignitaries. The roundtable
discussion, designed to inspire first-time voters, will run from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m.

Go,
listen to different opinions about the upcoming election, and then reflect on
what you've heard and how you feel about the state of our country and your role
as a voting citizen. This is worth one
missed WJ or classwork (i.e. you go from a 0 to a
check+).
Check
it out if you can! See you Wednesday,
Kathy
