I spot one of my best friends, Jessica Puckett. She is dressed
as usual in one of her many basketball camp T-shirts and an ECHS warm-up suit. But it’s her face that makes alarms
sound in the back of my mind. Puckett is one of the most optimistic people I
know; always smiling, joking, or pulling a prank. Not today. Her face is red,
and I see tears swell in her eyes as she reaches out to hug me. I am
overwhelmed with images as she squeezes me and as much as I don’t want to hear
it, I must know what has happened.
