Service Learning combines classroom instruction with community service, using reflection, innovation, critical thinking, and emphasis on civic responsibility.
Service Learning enhances student learning and addresses unmet community needs.

PURPOSE:
- Provide you with an on-hand business experience & ability to apply course contents to "real world" situations.
- Improve your communication, human relation, and interpersonal skills.
- Provide you with a medium for creativity and innovations.
- Build and improve your leadership and managerial skills.
- Enhance your awareness of the community needs through community involvement.
THE PROJECT:
- Develop a project that integrates the mgt concepts into a learning experience.
- Provide a service to the community through capitalizing on each member’s exp.
- Provide a learning/educational experience to the chosen audience. Or provide a needed service that better the situation/ life of the receivers
- The service component must be provided by the group and maybe assisted by the Students In Free Enterprise organization.
- All group members must be active and must participate in the decision making process.
- One Group Leader for each group must be elected. Group Leaders may be changed for poor performance.
- The Project must operate within the dates stated on your tentative schedule.
- Groups must document their objectives and plans. (What, When, Where, How?) (Keep it short and simple). Objective and plans are due no later than FEB 23,99
- Groups must receive approvals on all parts of the projects.
- Group leaders will be responsible for their group's performance evaluations.
- Grades will be based on goal and plan achievements & teamwork. 70% team grade and 30% indiv grade. Class Participation and attendance are tied to each individual 's contribution to his/her group.
- Project will officially begin on MARCH 2ND and END no later than APRIL 20, 99. However, you may begin earlier and end earlier!
The BEST Performing group will receive lunch for the group. Performance will be based on all aspects of the project including teamwork, profits, and goal achievement.
A reflection party will be organized at the end of the semester to share the project experience.
