PROJECT OUTLINE:
Four assignments are necessary to complete the Semester Project
ASSIGNMENT 1 DUE WEEK 4 DURING SECTION
[This should have been completed at the date of this posting,
if not, please turn assignment 1 in to your TA: it is REQUIRED
to complete this course]
Hand in a 1-page outline of your project. The outline should indicate:
A. WHERE your project will take place
B. WHAT environmental conflict will be covered by your project
C. WHAT PEOPLE OR ETHNIC GROUP is affected by the environmental conflict
D. AT LEAST THREE Bibliographic sources that you will use to investigate this environmental conflict
ASSIGNMENTS 2-4: Hand in the following THREE Sections to COMPLETE the Semester Project
SECTION 1: Using the environmental conflict and place from Assignment 1 (please consult with your TA before making changes), obtain a map, and write a short essay on the place, people, and environmental conflict.
(Indigenous Peoples such as Native American or Circum-Polar peoples are also acceptable. This Project is meant to satisfy the General Education requirement that at least 50% of course content address ‘Non-US’ topics, hence the place restrictions…)
SECTION ONE SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY YOUR SCHEDULED SECTION DURING WEEK 7 (THURS OCT 14 OR FRIDAY OCT 15)
SECTION 2: Based upon your write-up in SECTION 1, Use Commodity-Chain analysis to show how your consumption or other activities are related to this environmental conflict
SECTION TWO SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY YOUR SCHEDULED SECTION DURING WEEK 11 (THURS NOV 4 OR FRIDAY NOV 5)
THIRD SECTION: Analyze your Environmental Conflict and Provide Policy advice for Governmental, NGO, or Grassroots Social Movement
THE COMPLETED ASSIGNMENT, AS BELOW, MUST BE COMPLETE YOUR SCHEDULED SECTION DURING WEEK 15 (THURS DEC 2 OR FRIDAY DEC 3)
