Changes in HR P&P 51.0 Employee Education Program (Effective 01/03/05)

51.1.1.1.1

An employee may take credit courses at the University of Kentucky or Lexington Community College (LCC) through the University of Kentucky EEP.

 

An employee may take credit courses at the University of Kentucky through the University of Kentucky EEP. EEP applies to University of Kentucky employees taking classes at the University of Kentucky.

51.1.1.1.2

An employee may take credit courses at a regional university, a community college (other than LCC), and a technical school through the CPE Tuition Waiver Program. The administration of the tuition waiver program of the CPE shall be in accordance with this policy and the CPE Tuition Waiver Program.

 

 

 

 

An employee may take credit courses at a Kentucky public University or college through the CPE Tuition Waiver Program. Additionally, an employee from a Kentucky public university or college may take credit courses at the University of Kentucky through the CPE Tuition Waiver Program. The administration of the tuition waiver program of the CPE shall be in accordance with this policy and the CPE Tuition Waiver Program.

51.1.1.2

Under these programs, the maximum number of credit hours for which tuition will be waived shall be no more than six (6) per semester.

 

 

Through the EEP program, the maximum number of credit hours for which tuition will be waived shall be no more than eight (8) per semester with a maximum of eighteen (18) credit hours per academicyear. If more than six (6) credit hours are scheduled in a semester, then the number of classes shall not exceed two classes and their respective one- or two- credit hour labs. The academic year is defined as the period beginning with the fall semester and continuing through the 8-week summer session.

51.1.1.2.3

If an employee registers for more hours than the maximum [six (6) per semester] for which the tuition will be waived, the excess tuition shall be paid by the employee.

 

If an employee registers for more hours than the maximum [eight (8) per semester] for which the tuition will be waived, the excess tuition shall be paid by the employee.

51.1.1.2.4

If an employee does not pay the tuition in excess of six (6) hours before the cancellation date set by the official academic calendar, the student/employee will be dropped for all courses and the EEP award will be withdrawn.

 

If an employee does not pay the tuition in excess of eight (8) hours before the cancellation date set by the official academic calendar, the student/employee will be dropped for all courses and the EEP award will be withdrawn.

51.1.1.3

For the purpose of this policy, the combination of summer sessions is considered as one semester. Therefore, the total amount of tuition which may be waived during an entire summer shall not exceed the normal tuition for six (6) hours of credit.

51.1.1.4

Fees other than tuition (e.g., breakage fees, books, etc.) shall not be waived by the University; however, the University of Kentucky part-time activity fees shall be waived for employees attending University of Kentucky and LCC classes.

 

Mandatory, program, and course fees other than tuition (e.g., breakage fees, books, etc.) shall not be waived by the University; however, the mandatory fees charged to part-time students shall be waived for employees attending University of Kentucky classes.
