Congratulations to all the finishers and the winners of Biggest Blue Loser 2009!

Winners and percentage of body weight lost during the 10-week competition:

Males

  • 1st place: Matt McMahan - 8.5%
  • 2nd place: Kevin Sisler - 6.7%
  • 3rd place: Ben Allen - 2%

Females

  • 1st place: Jennifer Allen - 9.9%
  • Judy Duncan - 9%
  • Kathy Heineman - 6.9%

Team

Judy Duncan and Jessica Beard - 6.9%

BBL 2009 Stats:

  • Finishers lost an average of 8.5 pounds.
  • Finishers lost an average of 4% of their initial body weight.
  • Finishers lowered their BMI by an average of 1.3 points.

New for 2009: Teams may compete!

We know how important support is for weight loss success. So we invite you to join BBL by yourself or with your spouse, coworkers, or other eligible friends (must be UK employee, spouse, retiree, or sponsored dependent). You can compete as a couple or a team and team members can attend classes during any of the 3 available times. The limit is 4 people per team. If your couple/team “dissolves” for any reason, you can continue to compete as an individual. Registration form and payment must be received by Friday, December 19. (Class space is limited. First come, first served.)

Cost: $50 to join Weight Loss Matters & Biggest Blue Loser

Biggest Blue Loser participants will be eligible for a free month of fitness if they join the Body Shop (excludes current members of Body Shop)

Criteria for participation:

  • Join Weight Loss Matters and follow the meal plan that is given to you
  • Exercise for at least 30 minutes on at least 4 days per week.
  • Complete and turn in 8 food diaries
  • Complete and turn in 8 exercise diaries
  • Attend class on at least 8 weeks

Criteria for winning:

  • Greatest percentage of weight loss (NOT total pounds lost!)
  • For couples and teams, only those team members who meet the participation criteria will be included in final calculations for the winning team.
  • Overall team percentage weight loss will be calculated.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three individual male and female losers and the top couple/team.
