James Hardymon holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from UK. He is the retired chairman and CEO of Textron Inc., a $12 billion, global, multi-industry company with market-leading operations in Aircraft, Automotive, Industrial, and Finance. He currently serves as a director of Circuit City Stores Inc., Lexmark International, Inc., and WABCO, Inc. He is Non-Executive Chairman of WABCO Inc., which develops, manufactures, and sells advanced braking and suspension systems, primarily for commercial vehicles. Mr. Hardymon is a member of Advisory Boards of Investcorp International, Inc. Prior to joining Textron, Hardymon had a 28-year career at Emerson Electric Company, where he held a number of positions including vice chairman, chief operating officer, director, and president. After two years of duty with the U.S. Army, Hardymon began his business career in 1961 at Browning manufacturing Company in Maysville, KY. He held various field and sales management positions before and after Browning's acquisition by Emerson Electric in 1969.
