Jo Hern Curris is admitted to the practice of law in Kentucky, Iowa, and South Carolina with concentrations in tax, estate planning, and elderlaw. A native of Harlan County, she is a Life Member of the UK Alumni Association and recently served on the UK College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee, as a UK Law School class fund-raising representative, and is a former member of the board of trustees at Alice Lloyd College. Her newest creation, Operation Campus Friends/Freedom, promotes the support of our soldiers and their families on college campuses nationwide. She serves on the Hyatt Mountain Lodge board of directors, Beaver Creek, CO, and directs programming nationally for spouses of over 400 university presidents. She initiated the Continuing Legal Education Program for Clemson University and was a member of the Iowa Bar Tax Section Council. In addition to her private law practice, she has been a visiting professor of Law at the University of Kentucky and the University of Iowa. As former first lady of Clemson University, Northern Iowa University, and Murray State University, she was a frequent member of international delegations. She served on the Board of Directors of the J. D. Massey Classic Horse Show in South Carolina and the Mid America Savings Bank, Waterloo,Iowa, where she also chaired the Rotary's 75th anniversary. She was organizing president of the Murray-Calloway County (Kentucky) Community Theater. She received her bachelor's degree and law degrees from the University of Kentucky, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Emory University, Atlanta. She is married to Constantine "Deno" Curris, and their children are Robert and Elena.
