Lexington Environmental Youth Outreach

LEYO is a new organization at the University of Kentucky that seeks to bridge the environmental education/experience divide that currently exists in schools. Twice a month, LEYO goes into an under-resourced school in Lexington, KY to conduct biweekly educational activities for fourth/fifth graders that make the environment relevant and interesting. Once a semester, LEYO provides an environmental immersion trip for students that is engaging and educational. Through these activities, we hope to promote passion for sustainability issues while providing marginalized youth in Lexington with skills necessary to combat environmental injustices.

Our Mission

LEYO recognizes that the youth of today will inherit the world of tomorrow and is determined to educate, empower, and inspire youth most affected by environmental injustice.
