Rebecca Rayburn-Reeves

Rebecca Rayburn-Reeves has been a member of the Comparative Cognition Laboratory since 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University in 2004 and her master degree in art from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, in 2007. Her research is driven by her passion for philosophy and interest in human nature and behavior. She is currently investigating the rudiments of human cognition and conceptual behavior by studying both pigeons and man's best friend (the dog). She is particularly interested in how animals judge time and number. She is also interested in how animals represent objects in their absence. She is also interested in the development of symbolic representations and abstract relationships between perceptually different objects that come from the same functional category (such as a bike and a car).
