The Kentucky Geological Survey has archived this material, meaning (1) it is for reference, research, or recordkeeping; (2) it was created before April 24, 2026; (3) and the material has not been changed or altered since being archived. Step 3 uses ARC/INFO to semi-automatically trace the vectors. In this process the digitizer guides the vectorization tool through trouble spots and edits the vectorized line once it has finished.
Once editing has been completed, the formation coverage is then built to create polygon topology in Step 4.
We are currently in the process of redesigning our attribute tables and initiating the implementation of the USGS Data Model for Geologic Maps. In the coming weeks, we will put on this site examples of all of our attribute tables and descriptions of all the data we are capturing.
