FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The UKAEF awards fellowships each year to University of Kentucky doctoral students. The awards are made possible by donations from UKAEF members and by support from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Research Challenge Trust Fund. Since 1996, 87 Fellowships, (totaling $154,500) have been awarded. The current award is $2,500.00. List of fellowship awardees from 1996 to 2023 is available on the Fellowship Recipients page.

Currently enrolled, full-time, fully admitted Ph.D., Ed.D., D.M.A. or D.S. students are eligible for UKAEF fellowships. They must have completed at least two semesters in their current Graduate School academic programs and must be planning to seek careers in college/university teaching.

At the beginning of the fall semester, the Graduate School makes available information about UKAEF fellowships and application forms at this website:

https://gradschool.uky.edu/fellowships

Additional information may be obtained by contacting the Graduate School Fellowship Officer (859-257-6051). The deadline date for submitting applications is near the end of October.

Each member of the UKAEF Fellowship Committee receives electronic copies of the applications from the Graduate School, evaluates each of them and then meets with the other committee members to discuss the applications and make final award selections. The committee informs the Graduate School Fellowship Officer of its decisions. The awardees are notified by the Graduate School, which takes care of details regarding the distribution of award funds.

The UKAEF Fellowship Committee sends letters of congratulation to the awardees and invites them (and their spouses/friends) to attend the February luncheon meeting of the association membership. Brief descriptions of the awardees are included in the February issue of the UKAEF newsletter.
