Gain the skills needed to provide comprehensive and quality health care. Graduates of our program are prepared for a wide array of career opportunities in population health practice in local or state health departments. Moreover, professionals and practicing clinicians working in the healthcare delivery system can add public health skills and knowledge to boost their careers. 

Retool Your Clinical Career or Refresh Your Healthcare Management Education.  

Students of our Graduate Certificate gain increased understanding of effective population health management that is traditionally not included in clinical or healthcare management education. Our Graduate Certificate packages the core courses of our Master of Public Health degree into a 12 credit hour (4 course) concentrated learning experience. This certificate program provides valuable competencies for those seeking to join or advance their careers in the public health workforce.

All credits from this graduate certifcate can be applied to the 42-hour MPH program.

Curriculum

  • No prerequisites
  • Only required class is CPH 650: Public Health Systems
  • Individual assessment plan + 3 other classes from a list of selective, core classes
  • Credits are transferrable into MPH

    • Briefly describe (a) your reason(s) for interest in the Graduate Certificate in Population Health, (b) your career goals in relation to Population Health and (c) the specific topic in Population Health in which you are most interested and why.

How to Apply

  • Students already enrolled in a graduate degree program at UK may apply at any time.
  • For those not currently enrolled please follow the Graduate School deadlines and all application materials must be received at least one month before the semester you plan to begin your coursework.
  • Official transcripts are required for undergraduate and graduate work from universities other than the University of Kentucky. A GPA of 3.0 is required for admission.

Fall: July 22

Spring: December 9

Summer: April 15

Applicants must meet the Graduate School admission requirements.
