Housed inside the $65 million Gatton College of Business and Economics (which was funded 100% through philanthropy), we are equipped to give our MBAs a broader understanding of business functions through engagement and collaboration. Our students are immersed in real-world business experiences brought into the classroom by leading executives and our experienced faculty.

Masters Program

Application Requirements
  1. Start the Graduate School Application and submit the application fee directly to the Graduate School.
  2. Official Transcripts from all undergraduate institutions.
    • Applicants should possess a four-year undergraduate degree (or its equivalent) with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75/4.0. Official transcripts need to be mailed to the University of Kentucky Graduate School, 202 Gillis Building, Lexington, KY 40506-0033. Electronic transcripts through the major clearinghouses and by secure email, directly from the institution are acceptable.
  3. Resume
    1. Professional Resume/CV highlighting professional experience, educational history, and accomplishments. Cover letters are not required.
  4. Personal Statement on the topic of "Personal and Professional Growth" answering the following prompt:
    1. Write a personal statement (500 words or less) about your career goals. Include how you anticipate you will grow and change as a person, a professional, and a leader in your time as an MBA student in order to help you achieve your career goals. Consider: What mindset will you need to succeed during your MBA experience? How will you contribute to the Gatton College as a student and alumni? How will you contribute to your future employer, community, and society?
  5. One Letter of Recommendation from an individual (e.g., professors, current or former supervisors, etc.) who can objectively assess the quality of your character, capabilities and accomplishments as well as your overall potential as an MBA student and future business leader.
  6. GRE or GMAT
    • Official GMAT or GRE Score sent to the University of Kentucky (School code = 1837). Admission decisions may be based, in part, on unofficial scores, but official scores are required prior to full admitted status. The GRE or GMAT exam may be waived by the MBA Admission Committee if the applicant meets certain criteria in the GMAT/GRE Waiver Policy.
  7. MBA Preparatory Courses may also be required for certain candidates to be completed before the start of the program.

PhD Program

The mission of the doctoral program is to prepare students for successful careers in higher education, at government institutes, “think-tanks”, business corporations and financial institutions. To accomplish this mission, the program prepares graduates to comprehend and evaluate research, to perform research that advances knowledge, and to provide effective instruction, all within a business-related discipline and in a supportive collegial environment.
