Want to help empower people?

The Interdisciplinary Disability Studies minor will allow you to gain knowledge and skills to work with and support people with disabilities and their families, helping them live life to the fullest. Learn to empower and be an advocate for anyone who needs help. Disabilities come in many forms and people of all ages need advocacy at every level of development. This interdisciplinary program will introduce topics such as case management, helping skills, trauma and crisis, and disabilities a crossed ages. Expand your career options by combining the interdisciplinary disabilities studies minor with majors such as education, psychology, health promotion, or social work.

Classes & Requirements

The minor in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies requires 15 hours of course work as follows:

  • CED 225: Introduction to Disability (3)
  • CED 300: Disability Across the Lifespan (3)
  • CED 350: Case Management and the Helping Professional (3)
  • CED 410: Helping Skills for Community Settings (3)
  • CED 425: Introduction to Trauma and Crisis (3)
